Walking Tour: Historic Meatpacking District
This tour will be repeated October 8.

Guided tour with Author and GNPS member,
Jacquie Ottman,
through the historic meatpacking district.
Unpack four centuries of New York City history,
including Lenape and Dutch settlements, a War of 1812 military fort,
a farmers' market, and the center of the meat industry in NYC.
Walk the "cobblestones" and learn why this entire neighborhood was landmarked.
Wind up with an optional walk to a sweeping view of the Hudson River
taking in the Whitney Museum, Little Island, Freedom Tower,
the Statue of Liberty, and more.
Led by GNPS member Jacquelyn Ottman, fifth-generation daughter of
one of the original meat businesses in the district, and author of
"Ottman & Company: Meatpacking District Pioneers."
Accessibility: On this walking tour we will stay on city sidewalks involving no stairs.
Some of the streets are cobblestoned. Please wear walking shoes.
Please dress warmly, there are breezes off the river.
Transportation: Closest subway is the A,C,E,L at 14th Street & 8th Avenue.
